Types of Submissions
The Author who wishes to publish the Article may submit the type that includes Research, Review articles, case studies, informative letters, summaries of the latest findings, short communication, or other work related to chemistry.
- Research Articles (2000 – 3000 words): Original contributions to scientific knowledge, including interdisciplinary, replication studies, and negative or null results. Refer to the Pakistan Journal of Chemistry.
- Review Articles: Aim to provide a comprehensive overview of current research on a specific topic by one or more authors. Authors are expected to read the guidelines before preparing the Article where information is given to gather all pertinent information on the subject and organize it into a cohesive summary, presenting an up-to-date understanding of the “state of the art” in that field.
- Systematic Reviews (3000 – 3500 words): Provide a thorough and unbiased review of existing literature.
- Executive Summaries (800 – 1000 words): Provide a detailed summary of a research problem, highlighting essential points to inform readers and help them grasp the scientific approach quickly. It should be concise enough for readers to efficiently familiarize themselves with a broad range of data without needing extensive explanations.
- Short Communications (1000 – 1500 words): Short Communications are brief papers designed for the swift dissemination of original and impactful findings. They might address a specific aspect of a problem or a new discovery with potential significance. Submissions should adhere to the same format as full-length papers, with a maximum of 1500 words in the main text, around ten references, and up to two illustrations (either tables, figures, or one of each).
- Editorials (up to 1000 words): Provide brief, invited opinion pieces addressing pressing issues within the research community. They should be concise, with no abstract, a maximum of five references, and no figures or tables, though they may include a photograph of the Author.
- Commentaries (up to 3000 words): Analyze current issues such as policy, funding, careers, new institutes, regulatory, legislative issues or educational topics. They should not exceed 3000 words in total (including abstract, main text, references, and figure legends). It also includes a brief title, a 50-word abstract, up to 35 references, and 1-2 figures or tables.
- Focus Articles (up to 2500 words): They are concise, timely pieces that highlight recent research findings or address current policy issues related to research, such as regulatory, funding, educational, or legislative topics. They should be no longer than 2500 words in total, including the abstract, main text, references, and figure legend. Each Article should feature a brief, impactful title, a one-sentence abstract, a maximum of ten references, and either one figure (with a figure legend) or a table.
- Industry News (250 – 400 words): Brief updates on new initiatives, products, services, or developments in the field. These should avoid being promotional for any product or service and must appropriately reference alternative systems, services, products, or initiatives to provide context for the update.
- Perspectives (2000 – 4000 words): Provide insightful analyses of recent papers or current research topics of significant interest, offering a clear interpretation of key findings. Typically authored by one or two individuals, these articles aim to enlighten our interdisciplinary audience about notable scientific developments in the Author’s field of expertise. They may also cover methods, books, or highlights from meetings. Perspectives should feature a concise, engaging title, a brief abstract (50 words or less), up to 35 references, and 1 or 2 figures (with legends) or tables.
Submitting Your Manuscript
To submit a manuscript, authors, and reviewers need to be registered in our PJC submission system. If you don’t have an account yet, you’ll need to create a journal submission system, which can be used for future submissions to the Pakistan Journal of Chemistry. When accessing the submission portal, you will first need to accept the terms related to manuscript submission. For detailed information on our policies, please refer to the Peer Review Process and Policies.
Manuscripts submitted for publication in the Pakistan Journal of Chemistry (PJC) should include the following sections.
Cover Letters
The cover letter is your initial opportunity to impress the Journal’s editor and convince them of the value of your Article. It introduces your work, highlights what makes your research novel and significant, and explains how it fits within the Journal’s scope. A well-crafted cover letter can influence the editor to send your manuscript for peer review, so take the time to write it carefully. Must include conflict of interest, funding resource, Acknowledgment, and Article declaration not considered anywhere in any other journal.
The title page should include the paper title, Author (s) full name and affiliation, corresponding author(s), complete affiliation/address, and phone, fax, and email.
Title of the Article
The title of the Article should be specific and brief; note more than 120 characters. The first letter of each word should be in capital letters except for articles, conjunctions, and prepositions. Non-standard abbreviations and question marks in titles are not allowed. As the reporting guidelines recommend, information about the study should be included in the title (particularly for systematic reviews and meta-analyses).
Name of Authors:
Affiliation of All Authors
Email Address of Corresponding Authors
Abstract
The abstract of an article should be a clear, concise, and accurate summary, having no more than 350 words, and including the explicit sub-headings (as in-line or run-in headings in bold). Abbreviations should be avoided, and references should not be cited in the abstract.
Keywords: Maximum Five.
Introduction: A comprehensive literature search includes the latest references related to the work conducted. Summarize the objective or purpose of the research in a few sentences in the last paragraph of the research background work done previously with relevant references.
Material and Methods: Give a brief description of the research design, material used, methodology, and other relevant details about the study’s conduct with references.
Results and Discussion: Write about the research findings and discuss the main achievements, often using statistical data or significant findings with relevant references to validate the new outcomes.
Tables and Figures: Must be cited and discussed in the place where they were discussed first
Conclusion: Provide an overview of the study’s key findings and any implications or future work.
