Lead (Pb) symbol derived from the Latin name Plumbum placed in the periodic table as d -block element known as a heavy metal for its high density, malleability, corrosion resistance, and low melting point, found in the atmosphere in tinny concentration present as a part of the particulate matter rather than gas. Recent technological and industrial advancements have redefined its role as a resourceful and strategically important material. At the same time, it has historically been associated with toxicity and environmental concerns. This scientific report explores the modern-day uses of lead, its role in the global industry, emerging technologies, ecological implications, and prospects, especially in the Pb storage batteries, followed by their toxicological impact when discarded without precaution and measures as waste after its primary use.
