Sarfraz<\/span><\/p><p>Department of Chemistry, Government College University, 38030 Faisalabad, Pakistan<\/p><table border=\"0\" width=\"93%\" cellspacing=\"0\" cellpadding=\"0\" align=\"center\"><tbody><tr><td align=\"center\" valign=\"top\"><strong>Received<\/strong><br \/>14 Mar, 2011<\/td><td align=\"center\" valign=\"top\"><strong>Accepted<\/strong><br \/>14 Jun, 2011<\/td><td align=\"center\" valign=\"top\"><strong>Published<\/strong><br \/>14 Sep, 2011<\/td><\/tr><\/tbody><\/table><div class=\"item abstract\"><p class=\"ql-align-justify\">Partial molar volume, V<sup>0<\/sup>\u00a0, of Ciprofloxacin in water, 0.05 mol Kg<sup>-1<\/sup>\u00a0hydrochloric acid and 0.05 mol Kg<sup>-1<\/sup>, Iron (III) chloride solutions at 298.15 and 308.15 K was calculated from precision densities obtained from Density Sound Analyzer (DSA 5000). The data represent the smaller volume of drug in 0.05 mol Kg<sup>-1<\/sup>\u00a0Iron (III) chloride solution than water and 0.05 mol Kg<sup>-1<\/sup>\u00a0hydrochloric acid at constant temperature. The differences in volumes are interpreted as due to hydrophobicity of solutes. Relative hydrophobicities were estimated from volumes of transfer from one media to another media. The hydrophobicity of this compound also plays a key role in the drug action.
